The pleached beech arbors in the gardens of the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, Virginia, caught the eye of Global Views' designer George Sellers when he visited to develop WILLIAMSBURG products. The original Palace was constructed under the auspices of Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood, royal governor from 1710 to 1722. Spotswood also created the Palace's elaborate gardens. He owned a book on the gardens of Versailles, so may have nurtured French-style arbors as a cool respite from a Tidewater Virginia summer. Bring a different kind of "cool" into your home with our Spotswood Arbor Mirror.
